Platform connectivity,
the nervous system.
Service mesh, event backbones, secure connectivity and observability across your platform, the layer that lets every service talk to every other one, safely.
The best platforms feel like one system. Underneath, they are made of many. The connectivity layer is what turns a portfolio of services into a coherent platform.
Service mesh & workload networking
Istio, Linkerd or Cilium, where they earn their keep. Skipped where a boring load balancer wins.
Mesh pays off with multi-cluster east-west, strict zero-trust between workloads, or serious traffic-shifting needs. Introduced too early it becomes an ops tax that never pays back.
The mesh is a means, not an end. We adopt only what earns its complexity.

Event backbone
Kafka, Kinesis or NATS as the platform's asynchronous nervous system, with schemas, ordering and idempotency modelled explicitly.
Events are typed, versioned and observed. Consumers can trust ordering guarantees and process each message idempotently.
The event backbone is what lets teams work asynchronously without stepping on each other.
Identity & zero-trust
One identity across services. mTLS on every internal call. Least-privilege by default.
Workload identity through SPIFFE, service accounts and platform-issued certificates. Every internal call is authenticated and authorised.
Zero-trust adopted incrementally, where risk and payoff are highest.
Observability across seams
OpenTelemetry tracing every request across every service and seam, because a distributed system without tracing is a mystery box.
Distributed traces, correlated logs, per-service SLOs. When a request goes wrong, we see where, not just that it did.
Observability is a platform product, not a per-team task.
Toolkit
Framework, platform and vendor selection is driven by the shape of the work and the team who'll own it, not by whichever ecosystem is loudest this year. The list below is representative, not prescriptive.

What clients ask us first
01How much service mesh is worth it?
As much as workload count and mTLS/observability needs justify. Single-cluster estates with a handful of services usually do better without. Mesh earns its place with multi-cluster east-west or strict zero-trust between workloads.
02How do you approach event-driven architecture?
As a design decision per capability. Events where asynchronous decoupling, replay or fan-out matter. Direct calls where they're simpler and honest. Blends are healthy.
03How do you handle observability across services?
OpenTelemetry as substrate. Distributed tracing correlated with logs and metrics. Per-service SLOs owned by their teams. Platform team makes it easy to instrument, hard to get wrong.
04How do you approach zero-trust internally?
Workload identity. mTLS on internal calls. Least-privilege authorisation. Adopted incrementally, starting where risk and payoff are highest.
